Welcome to Sam Houston’s Title I Program.

Students in Kindergarten–3rd Grade are currently served through the Title I Program.

What is Title I (Reading)?

Title I is a federally funded program designed to meet the needs of individual students who may require additional assistance with readiness skills and reading/language skills. Various strategies are used to strengthen reading and language skills. Title I supports classroom instruction but does not replace classroom instruction in any way.

How are students selected for Title I?

Student needs are identified by multiple measures such as test scores, rubrics, report cards, and questionaires. Numerical values are derived for each measure. Students are then ranked numerically to determine students with the most need.
