2nd Grade News
May 14-18
This week we will be doing autobiographies and timelines in our classrooms. If you have any pictures that you don’t mind sending in, we would love to have them. They will not be returned like they come in, but will be sent home in timelines. We need pictures from different times in their lives, from baby until now.
Field day is Thursday and the talent show is Friday!
Spelling- This week we will be working on the the ending -ed and -ing sounds. Please check the agenda for your child’s words.
Reading – We will be reading the story Pigsty. The skill for our story will be cause and effect. Please practice this skill as you read with your child at home this week.
Math – We will be working on multiplication. Please continue to practice time, money, addition, and subtraction at home.
This week our “I can” statements are:
*I can identify causes that change the outcome of a story.
*I can create arrays to solve multiplication problems with addition.
*I can explain the meaning of selected patriotic symbols and landmarks of Tennessee.

There will be no school this Friday, May 4.
Thanks to all of the parents who sent in breakfast items for SAT 10, practiced with your child for SAT 10 , and made sure they came in well rested to test.
We will have two homework assignments again this week. Please send those back in as soon as you have worked on them and checked them together. We are working hard in our classrooms to be prepared for Children’s Progress!

We will have two homework assignments again this week. Please send those back in as soon as you have worked on them and checked them together. We are working hard in our classrooms to be prepared for SAT 10!
I am also sending home the last spelling, language, and listening practice tests. Please go over the language test with your child because it is one of the harder tests. Allow your child to explain to you some of the strategies that we have in place to be successful on this test. The key to the listening test is to listen and stay focused. Thanks for all of your help!
